S-009 - 14 oz - elastic dark indigo selvage denim

This 14.3 oz selvage denim from Japan combines classic substance with modern flexibility. The low elastane content of 2% gives the fabric noticeable stretch without sacrificing its characteristic stability and shape retention. It is ideal for fitted jeans or jackets where both comfort and structure are essential.

When new, the unwashed denim is robust and retains its shape well, yet is less stiff than comparable 100% cotton fabrics. The inherent elasticity ensures comfortable freedom of movement from the very first wear. With wear, the material develops additional suppleness and adapts dynamically, while maintaining a clearly defined silhouette.

Visually, the fabric displays a balanced, classic denim structure with authentic depth. Depending on wear, differentiated washes develop, which stand out clearly against the stable base structure.

The fabric is produced at Kuroki in Okayama – one of the most renowned regions for high-quality selvage denim in Japan. There, fabrics are created on traditional shuttle looms, combining artisanal authenticity with modern functionality.

Despite its heavier weight, 14.3 oz denim can be easily sewn with a sturdy domestic sewing machine. A size 90-100 jeans needle is recommended; when sewing multi-layered flat-felled seams, a reduced speed should be used.
