This lighter antique-blue indigo-dyed selvage denim from Japan weighs 10.8 oz, making it one of the lighter classic denim qualities. It is ideal for lightweight jeans, shirts, overshirts, skirts, dresses, or summer jackets where freedom of movement and comfort are paramount.

With its reduced weight, the fabric offers pleasant flexibility while maintaining its shape. When new, the unwashed denim is smooth, calm, and comparatively supple. It is comfortable to wear from the start and develops an even softer feel over time without losing its structure.

The fabric is characterized by its very homogeneous and uniform appearance. The surface exhibits barely visible irregularities and appears clearly and precisely defined. The light antique blue tone underscores this calm character: a fresh, balanced blue with subtle depth. With wear, discreet, harmonious fading develops, elegantly evolving the fabric without creating strong contrasts.

The fabric is produced by Kuroki in Okayama – one of the most important regions for high-quality selvage denim in Japan. There, fabrics with an authentic feel and a clear, balanced surface effect are created on traditional shuttle looms.

Thanks to its light weight, the 10.8 oz selvage is particularly easy to work with. A size 80 jeans needle is usually sufficient; a reduced sewing speed is recommended for multi-layered sections.
